At Akiva Hebrew Academy, our Judaic Studies curriculum is designed to provide students with a deep, engaging understanding of Jewish tradition, history, and values through a blend of classic texts and innovative methods.

In Tefila, students explore the significance of prayer and develop a personal connection to the words and meaning of each tefillah. Parsha is brought to life through storytelling and dynamic discussions, as students mature into the study of Midrashim and Rashi’s commentaries. Guided note-taking encourages critical thinking and personal interpretation, while Parsha art—where students express their understanding through various creative mediums—fosters a deeper connection to the weekly Torah portion.

Our curriculum on Jewish holidays focuses on the practices, timing, traditions, and profound meanings behind each celebration. Through Dvar Torahs and thought-provoking questions, we encourage students to reflect on their holiday experiences and discuss them with their families, enriching their understanding.

In Chumash and Navi, we integrate Rabbi Reittis’s Montessori-inspired curriculum, emphasizing Shorashim and Lashon Hakodesh. Interactive tools like climbing Har Sinai worksheets, flashcards, and gematria dominoes make the learning process enjoyable and effective. Group reading sessions and pair work in Chumash foster collaboration, building confidence and comprehension as students analyze key words, roots, prefixes, and suffixes. This approach ensures a deep understanding of the text and its application to daily life.

For students following our Chabad track, we offer a unique focus on Chabad philosophy and teachings, connecting students with the rich heritage and spiritual practices of the Chabad movement. This track includes lessons on Chabad customs, thought, and teachings that deepen students’ connection to Chabad Chassidus and the Rebbe’s vision.

Our Yahadut curriculum spans ten comprehensive units covering essential topics such as Kashrut, Tefillah, lifecycle events, Jewish philosophy, mitzvot, and midot. These units are explored through group projects, scientific inquiry, and engaging discussions, addressing fundamental questions to deepen students’ understanding of Jewish life and values.

Every day, we dedicate time to learning two Halachot, ensuring students integrate Jewish law into their daily lives, making it relevant and meaningful. Through these enriching experiences, our Judaic Studies program nurtures a lifelong connection to Torah and Jewish tradition.

At Akiva Hebrew Academy, our Hebrew language program takes an immersive Ivrit B’Ivrit (Hebrew in Hebrew) approach, utilizing a carefully crafted in-house curriculum inspired by the renowned “Chaverim B’Ivrit” series and iTalAm.

This methodology is designed to build fluency and literacy in Hebrew by engaging students in direct, practical language usage. Our curriculum focuses on the intricacies of Hebrew, providing a natural, intuitive learning experience that emphasizes speaking, reading, and writing skills. Through this comprehensive program, students not only acquire Hebrew as a language but also connect deeply to Israel’s culture and history, fostering a meaningful bond with our heritage.

At Akiva Hebrew Academy, our curriculum is designed to provide an engaging, hands-on learning experience that emphasizes project-based learning, inquiry, and critical thinking across all subjects.

We integrate core areas such as language arts—encompassing reading, writing, oral expression, and spelling—alongside the globally recognized Singapore math program, which nurtures problem-solving and mathematical reasoning. Our science program fosters curiosity and innovation through inquiry-based learning and STEM integration, while social studies and cultural studies enrich students’ understanding of history and the diverse cultures of the world.
